Overall this is an excellant product with many cool features. This is my first GPS and I'm still learning all the features. The display is a good size and easy to read at night and during the day. The nearest resturant/gas station/hotel ect. is very useful and easily accessed, a BIG plus when driving a rental car in an unfamilure city. The navigating voice is easy to comprehend. Overall this is a great product with lots of extras.

I met the Garmin GPS systems when renting a car in Arizona. After a few false (three actually) starts that were attributable to the car's power source, not the Garmin, this little wizard led me through a thousand miles of travel with not so much as a hiccup.
ven when road signs indicated something else, I trusted the Garmin…. and it was right!
It worked well in big cities as well as for locations in the far country.
This devise will save you time, gas and lots of frustration. I only wish the model I purchased (nuvi 650) had a few options for mounting it in the car.
But if you are looking for a great system for yourself or as a gift, I'd go with this mid-price item.
Pro : A great basic system that even an idiot can use
Con : Not many options as to locating in in your vehicle

Bought the unit for a trip to New Orleans. It functioned flawlessly with the execption of pronunciation Jones Dr becomes Jones Doctor & the speech is a litle hurried. However the unit displays street name to minimize confusion.
Best use is menu which features locations found to reset trip. It was very accurate especially mph and arrival times.
Be careful when shopping as I paid $299 olus fre shipping from Costco. Seems like price is all over the board.
A travel bag or such would be nice when storing unit.

I purchased this GPS unit after I was promoted into a management position that required me to drive all over Fort Worth Texas and the surrounding areas. I am pretty familiar with Dallas, but Ft. Worth was virtually unknown. The Garmin Nuvi has been one of the best investments I have made in a while. I can plug in the addresses of my accounts, the when i arrive, save them into the hard drive and they are ready for future use. The fact that it announces the actual street names is great too, like you have someone in the car telling you what to do! Also got the external Traffic Receiver and it is great, finds traffic and will offer alternate routes to help get around it. Great product!

I found the unit easy to learn and use, and that is a plus. However, it totally does not know pronunciation. I live on Long Island and a major road is Sunrise Highway (Rt. 27). It is also called POW/MIA in honor of Viet Nam Vets, but that is never used by locals. This unit refers to it as "Powmia" Highway. Also things such POI's are not updated or totally wrong as establishments come and go, and this is totally outdated on the Garmin even after doing updates. It may be good for general navigation but not much else.
Pro : Good navigation
Con : Poor pronuciation of local streets.
