i have a bach deg in electronics engg from india and in living in US. how do i become a kindergarten teacher?

By admin

i have done my 4 year bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering from India. I am in US now and want to become a montessori or a kindergarten teacher here. What should i do for that ?

The idea of getting a degree in ECE is great, but it won’t necessarily help you with teaching in a Montessori school. I would contact schools in your area and see what training programs they recognize and where they offer training. In America, there are two main training organizations: AMS and AMI. Sometimes, schools will only accept people who have training from one or the other. So in the long run, it’s best to get both certifications.

You will have to be certified to teach by the state, which may or may not require additional schooling in the education field, and you’ll probably have to have a background check. Contact your local school board to see what the requirements are for your district.

Most states are going to require a bachelor’s degree in education. I’m certified in Wyoming, and for certification I had to have a bachelor’s degree in education (the University will say which grades your degree covers, some of them include K-6, some 1-6 with a minor in Kindergarten, etc.) But you will need further schooling, I don’t think Electronics Engineering will tell you much about teaching 5/6 year olds.

You are probably going to have to go back to school to get your certification for teaching. A bachelor’s by itself is not enough to teach on in the US. Contact your State DOE for futher information that is specific to each State.

You’re probably not going to be able to teach much with your degree in Electronics Engineering. Outside of high school science, you’re going to have to take a lot of general classes probably to be certified in early childhood education.
